SkyPower's strategy involves bringing a
portfolio of wind energy park projects from exploration phase
through the construction phase and into commercial operation.
SkyPower has developed a "national footprint", with interests in
23 projects at various stages of
development in 8 provinces in Canada, representing over 5,500 MW
of potential energy.
SkyPower's core competency is its expertise in
building, developing and managing relationships with service
providers, such as those being used in development of the
facility. In addition, SkyPower believes that it has the unique
reciprocal partnership model that involves landowners, communities
and First Nations as value-added development partners and in
return SkyPower directs a portion of each project's operating
profit back into the community in which it is operating.
SkyPower's strategy as a developer is both to
acquire projects in development from wind prospectors and to
engage in wind exploration in order to develop a strong pipeline
of wind energy parks. SkyPower believes this strategy has created
a platform for the successful development, construction and
operation of a portfolio of wind energy projects.
Community Connection
We believe in supporting the communities where
our projects are developed and in addition to supporting the
creation of local employment opportunities we are creating
foundations to ensure that communities benefit from the new energy
facilities that are built within their boundaries.
Community
Connection is SkyPower’s program that subsidizes electricity for
the needy, provides skill based training in the renewable energy
sector, and provides youth facilities and programs to enhance
